Pirate Party Name Tags
I preprinted name tags set out in Alphabetical ordered for every guest invited to party. I also had some blank tags with sharpie marker for any unexpected pirate party crasher. When picking my pirate guest’s name I used something that rhymed or something that started with first letter of their name. I printed the true name in bold, so it would stand out. I had an adult baby shower so some of names would not be appropriate if using for child’s name tag. If making child’s name tag try to keep it light and cute. Here is example of names I had and I hope this help inspire your own.

Party Favors
We did round rum flavored sugar cookies with royal icing and decorated them with pirate baby faces, black iced with white pirate baby skulls w/ rattles, rubber ducky in baby stroller ship. (See pictures) We wrapped them in clear sandwich baggies with pirate colored ribbon. You could use black, red or white? We played them in a basket on tray table decorated with black cloth by front door, so guest would not forget to take when leaving.
An alternative option: If you are not into baking or if you can’t find someone talented enough to volunteer to bake for you. You could also send home a pirate rubber ducky (purchased on Oriental trading company very cheap) wrapped in homemade burlap material loot sack. Or you could just put some chocolate gold coins in loot sack. But nothing tops the compliments on homemade rum butter cookies!
Here are picture of loot bags

Decorations for Pirate Baby Shower

It is all about the details that really set the mood for a Pirate Baby Shower. Now some people may think it is weird to have skulls and crossbones at a baby shower, but my guests were really impressed. Let me talk you through our set up. We dragged out some of the Halloween decorations or if you are planning your shower in October, you should have no probably finding lots of goodies to decorate with in the stores. If looking online Oriental Trading Company has lots of cool cheap pirate stuff. http://www.orientaltrading.com/. I had most of my stuff from previous Halloween parties so I didn’t have to purchase much for decorations, but if you are having a baby boy just think of it as you will probably use any decorations you invest in for his future birthday party. We had my shower in Florida so we decorated outside too. So let’s start in Front yard. In the driveway we put a skeleton dressed as a pirate on the hood of car with empty bottle of rum with sign that said please “Don’t Ye Drink & Drive Matey! We placed another skeleton dressed pirate and sign “Beware of pirates” by mailbox. I hand painted two pirate ships on Shower curtains and set them across from each other with a hand painted shark circle also painted on a shower curtain. We placed board that looked like a plank to walk in the middle between the two ships. The ships were named the Black Pearl and the Flying Dutchman. (see pics). We set up bean bag toss for kids and a duck pond which was also used as a game. Moving inside we set up name tags by front door and party favors on a table by front door. We set large table up with red table cloth and fish net to place the gifts on. Next to gift table we place large comfy chair and decorated it Mama Capt’N Chair and it is where mother sat to open baby gifts. I had preprinted list of all rsvps names so when opening gifts we wrote next to their name the gift for thank you cards later. (that way person keeping track didn’t have to struggle with name spelling) We covered couches with large black sheets; coffee table had pirate map table cloth (we got at pottery barn), We hung jolly roger pennant flags, on the wood floor made it look like X marks the spot taped with black electrical tape. Decorate teddy bear in pirate outfit and sat him on couch, we found a Mr. Potato Head Captain Pirate an sat him on end table, Raid the Halloween closeout sale table in your favorite party supply store for some leftover skull candles to use instead of lanterns on each individual table. Pull out your old wooden trunk and decorate it as a pirate’s treasure chest. Heap layers of silky fabrics, gold doubloons (the kind with a chocolate center) and silver trays and silverware inside (if you don’t have a lot of silver lying around, cover some plastic plates with aluminum foil) Drape beads or strings of fake pearls, gold doubloons with a chocolate center Lean a large, seated plastic skeleton that you have dressed with some tattered clothing and a pirate hat against the side of the trunk, You can also make a sign on the door "Enter at yer own risk" and hang old treasure maps on the walls. You can make and put around the Pirate party area more signs that read: "Deadman's Swamp", "Beware, Pirates Ahead", "Walk the Plank if Ye Dare!!", "Pirate's Cove", "X Marks the Spot!", "Welcome Aboard", etc. If you want to mark an area of the Pirate birthday party off limits, you can make a sign saying "Part of deck closed due to storm wreckage" or something similar. String rope ladders into the trees or to the corners of the room and attach it to the crown molding for easy access to an imaginary crow’s nest. On door way to bathroom we hung black streamers to make it look like jail and I painted picture of dog with keys in his mouth. In bathroom we had decorated like Dungun and had cd player playing pirate music. Details, details will set the mood. Set up food table buffet style. I made signs to label all the food. All the food was of course pirate themed.

Table Ware
We used black and red plates, pirate print napkins, red and black & white -forks, knifes, & spoons. The plates and napkins were pirate themed and the adults use black plates and red cups. Children had clear glasses so they could watch the shark blood ice cubes melt. We set up drink station and had black sharpie marker to write everyone’s names on the cups. We had a few fancy skull shaped plastic goblets, skull shot glasses. Two Punch Bowls,

Coat two biscuits with pink icing, place a yoghurt ball on one and add the other biscuit on top to make your clam. Pipe two white icing eyes with black icing dots. These can be made in advance of the party (e.g. a week before) and kept in an air-tight container. Very clamorous! Peg Legs- fried turkey legs (great for the guys)just like at Disney world! Pirate Baby Shower Games Ideas

Diaper Booty Raffle: This is a really nice idea for a new Mommy to be. Nice way to load up on diapers. You can never have enough diapers with a new baby. Make sure to clearly mark this Raffle on you invites and inform guest to bring any size because you do not want to have all newborn size diapers. They them they can also bring wipes instead. Asked that they label diapers or wipes with their name for their entry in the raffle. Set all diapers and wipes that are brought to party in one area. (stack in a corner or at foot of gift table)Then sometime during party have Prego mom ask the youngest child present to get her a pack of diapers or wipes. Which ever one they bring is the winner! It is so cute when a little 4yr old picks out the winner. If there are no children present at shower then have hostess pick.

Picking Crews For Your Pirate Shower Games

I made team crew cards that everyone pick from a hat that told which team they were on and there was 2 slips of paper that had captain on it. Example Flying Dutchman Crew & and Black Pearl Crew. For remained of the shower they were a part of that crew for the games. Captain was in charge of his crew.

Cannon Ball Fight: remember the ships I painted in the front yard, well we divided the crews and had a good old cannonball fight. We used black tissue paper (already pre-balled before party) There was only one cannon ball pre-person was and then we threw at each other. Rules were you were allowed to pick up balls and throw it back. Started music and at end of song the ship with the most cannonballs on their side lost. (This game could also be used with water balloons or black painted ping-pong balls)

Cannonball Pop
Hand each pirate a (already blown up with string attached) To tie around pirates ankle. At the start of go each pirate will try to pop the other pirate's balloon without having his/hers popped. The one left with an inflated balloon wins. Caution: have pirates remove their shoes to keep anyone from getting hurt.

Don’t Drop your Cannonball- This is a great Co-ed baby shower game. It takes parenthood and working together to a whole new level! Divide the guests into pairs. Give each pair a tennis ball (painted black) and instruct them to put it in-between their forehead. Then the hostess will give simple commands for everyone to follow. They must complete the command without letting the tennis ball drop. You can have them jump, turn to the left or right, take a certain amount of steps, etc. The couple that can keep a hold of the tennis ball the longest without dropping will win a prize.

Prego Wench
Preparation for this baby shower game idea: Before the shower, buy about 200 medium-sized balloons. Then, either borrow or buy 4-5 XXL shirts and 4-5 pairs of XXL pants (you will need one shirt and 1 pant for each team, so if you only have 2 or 3 teams just by 2 or 3 pairs of clothing).
How to play this baby shower game: During the shower, divide the guests into teams of 4 or 5 people. Have each team choose one team member who is going to be "pregnant". Then give each team one large shirt and one pairs of large pants, and about 50 balloons. When you say "Go!" the "pregnant" team member of each team will put the shirt and pants on as quick as they can, while their teammates start to blow up the balloons. When the "pregnant" one is "dressed", teammates will begin stuffing the inflated balloons as fast as they can into the shirt and pants of the "pregnant" one. After 3 minutes, everyone must stop stuffing balloons. The winning team is the one that has the MOST "pregnant" team member (the one with the most stuffed inflated balloons). Don't pull the balloons out to count, though! The fun has just started! The best (and most hilarious) way to count the balloons is to get a long pin or needle and pop the balloons, one by one while everyone is watching. This can be such a riot! You can pop all the balloons in the pants first and then have a very "pregnant" and/or well developed mommy! This game gets everyone involved, and laughing. (One warning about this game: Make sure the one who is chosen to be "pregnant" on each team should have their skin covered (ie no bare midriffs, low cut necklines, etc). Otherwise, it might sting their bare skin each time a balloon is popped.)

Pirate Baby Shower Prizes:
Now no shower game is complete without prize that goes with the theme of the party! If having Co-Ed Shower it is important to keep guys in mind too? Most Co-ed showers there are bound to be a few children there to, so don't forget to have a couple kiddy prizes. Label everything that you wrap, so you know which is appropriate prize. I just used old leftover Xmas paper and turned it inside out and with black marker drew Skulls on the wrapping. (wrote age of gift in sm print on the corner)

For the Diaper Booty Raffle Prize: We made a nice basket with bottle of rum and pirate shot glass, gold beads, gold coins and filled it with pirate loot. Wrapped it with Celphane and made it look professionally made. Extra Special!

Best idea was Lottery tickets. They are easy to buy and cheap! Pirates love booty.
How about miniature bottles of rum from Liquor store. How about some Captain Morgan?
I also had a few cheap pirate books that we found on clearance at Borders for children. I bought a trashy Pirate Novel for adult. I burned my own copy of children and adult pirate music from Itunes. I found on Amazon Goonie Dvd Movies for $3 bucks ordered a few of them. I also found copy of Pirates of Caribbean cheap. Rum Candle & rum soap at dollar store as well as some cheap jewelry which I put in a small little chest I found at dollar store. I found a New 8 oz Stainless Steel Hip Flask Pirates Skull Bones(for guy) on Amazon $5 bucks http://www.amazon.com/Stainless-Steel-Flask-Pirates-Skull/dp/B002A0XOLA/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=sporting-goods&qid=1270790263&sr=8-1
As well as cheap pirate bottle openers. If you hunt hard enough you can find loads of cute things for pirates of all ages.
